Trick AND Treat: A Gut-Loving Halloween Sweet from Kurami.

Halloween is known for costumes, pumpkins, and of course, sweets. Whether your evening includes last-minute drinks, trick-or-treating, or something festive, feeling well-nourished can make all the difference. Many of us will be heading from desk to dancefloor tonight(or from meetings to trick-or-treating with the family) before the weekend even begins. When your schedule is full, your nourishment matters more than ever.

That is where Nourish Now comes in: a simple, ready-to-enjoy way to support your body and simplify your evening.

The Sweet Science: How Sugar Affects Your Gut.

Sugar is often at the centre of Halloween celebrations, but too much of it may impact the balance of your gut. It can encourage the growth of less beneficial bacteria, which may leave you feeling more sluggish than energised. That does not mean you need to avoid them - food is meant to be enjoyed, and create moments of fun and laughter with your loved ones. Balance and consistency remain key, especially during Halloween.

So, what can you do?

  • Pair your treats: Eating sweets alongside fibre or protein can help slow digestion and make energy release steadier. Pair a handful of nuts with your sweets, and ensure to have a balanced meal beforehand to support stable energy.

  • Choose variety: Having fibre-rich snacks can help moderate how your body absorbs sugar, supporting steadier energy and a gentler impact on the gut.

  • Stay hydrated: Water supports digestion and can gently help to offset the effects of a sugar-heavy evening.

On busy days, it is not always realistic to prepare nourishing meals alongside everything else. Nourish Now is designed for exactly these moments. By keeping you fuelled with balanced, gut-loving food before the sugar rush begins, it helps you enjoy the fun of Halloween without the crash.

This year, treat yourself to more than just sweets, nourish your gut, fuel your energy, and make the most of the spooky season.

A Gut-Loving Halloween Sweet Idea: Dark Chocolate Pumpkin Bark.

  • 100g no-added-sugar dark chocolate (see kid-friendly swap below).
  • 1 tbsp pumpkin seeds.
  • 1 tbsp freeze-dried raspberries or blueberries.
  • 1 tbsp crushed gluten-free pretzels or oat biscuits.
  • Optional: a pinch flaky salt.

Method.

  1. Melt the chocolate gently over a bain-marie or in the microwave.
  2. Pour onto a parchment-lined tray and spread evenly.
  3. Sprinkle toppings over the top.
  4. Chill for 30 minutes or until fully set. Snap into bark-style pieces.

Gentler for you and for little tummies... If you are planning to share with children (or just know you will be reaching for more than a few shards), consider swapping some or all of the chocolate for a softer option. We like Rhythm 108 or Plamil’s milk-style chocolate which are delicious and lower in sugar.

Still festive. Still delicious. Just a little kinder on digestion.
